Exploding out of the scene: Snayx live at TGE ‘23
Snayx, a name that you are guaranteed to remember after seeing them live, across The Great Escape Weekend Snayx had their hands full playing a total four shows from packed out sweat-box pubs to filling out Brighton’s iconic Chalk. This duo, Ollie Horner & Charlie Henridge: they’re no strangers to a rowdy show coming off of a tour with Kid Kapichi, Snayx are a band that puts on a show, they bring vigorous energy, they will have you moving no matter what.

Recently released ‘Weaponized Youth: Part 1’, their debut EP was made for the stage. Kicked off with ‘Work’, politically raged and angry at the discipline that work life 9-5’s do to people, ‘get[ting] told to shut up’. At the end of the song finally telling ‘them’ to “Fuck Off” a heavy riff paired with a fun beat the EP brings the energy straight away. My personal favourite ‘Body Language (she could read my)’ is unmatched live. Catchy lyrics are bound to have you screaming back at them, the hard hitting bass is impossible to ignore while Ollie sticks his tongue out right at you.

With a debut Ep most bands are still figuring out their style and stage presence but Snayx have it down to a T. The Ep is closed with ‘Buck’ woozy vocals and their staple full guitars; this song takes you on a crazy night out, with their (not sponsored) love of their life Buckfast. This song is a great showcase of playful punk and ends the EP on a high.
Brighton boys, Snayx don’t need insane production or a fancy venue to remain pertinent in your mind, Artists, industry people and general Great Escape Go-ers were raring to see them live, Charlie climbs upon the barricade while everyone is completely entranced in their performance. ‘Boys in blue’ is a political, angry unreleased song by the electrifying duo. Hearing it live in itself is an experience but I cannot wait for a studio Release.
Their personality shines through their music, massive grins on their faces and extreme energy across the stage. I was lucky enough to catch Snayx twice this weekend and after both times I was exhausted in the best way possible. They’re a must see band.
